Cigna eyes ACA marketplaces in Chicago, East Coast

Cigna is vying for space in Affordable Care Act marketplaces in Illinois, North Carolina and Virginia, The Hill reported.

The Bloomfield, Conn.-based insurer is specifically interested in marketplaces in Richmond, Va., Chicago and Raleigh/Durham, N.C.

Cigna's proposed entrance follows the exit of insurance giants like Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare and Louisville, Ky.-based Humana from several ACA marketplaces nationwide next year. The federal government has said ebb and flow of insurers in the marketplace is normal.
