The Bloomfield, Conn.-based insurer is specifically interested in marketplaces in Richmond, Va., Chicago and Raleigh/Durham, N.C.
Cigna’s proposed entrance follows the exit of insurance giants like Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare and Louisville, Ky.-based Humana from several ACA marketplaces nationwide next year. The federal government has said ebb and flow of insurers in the marketplace is normal.
