The insurer will offer plans in no more than 11 state exchanges next year, according to its earnings report. In May, Humana announced it will not sell ACA plans in Alabama and Virginia in 2017. Humana participated in 15 state marketplaces this year.
The insurer’s announcement arrived on the same day the U.S. Department of Justice and attorneys general from several states challenged its proposed $37 billion deal with Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna.
Next year, Humana will offer plans in 160 U.S. counties, down from 1,351.
