Centura Health, Cigna reach contract impasse as deadline looms

Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health may no longer be part of Cigna's provider network if negotiations between the two parties falter, 9News reports.

Centura Health's contract with Cigna expires at the end of January.

Centura Health's Director of Strategic Communications Jennifer Wills told 9News system leaders hope talks over a "few critical points" will be wrapped up by Feb. 1. However, Cigna members may face out-of-network prices if negotiations fall through.

In a statement to 9News, Cigna said it "has been negotiating collaboratively and in good faith with Centura Health to reach agreement on a new contract before our existing contract ends … We would like Centura Health to remain part of our network but it has to be on terms that result in immediate and long term affordability and value for our customers and our employer clients."
