BCBSNC communications specialist Darcie Dearth to The Jacksonville Daily News that despite months of negotiations, the hospital and the insurer have failed to resolve rate setting disputes.
According to CHC, BCBSNC will not budge on previously provided financial terms.
While BCBSNC indicated the hospital will be going out-of-network for its carriers, Ms. Dearth told reporters it is possible for the decision to change should a satisfactory resolution be reached after Feb. 1.
Contract disputes between payers and providers are not uncommon. For example, BCBS of Arizona and Tucson, Ariz.-based Carondelet Health are currently involved in similar contract dispute over reimbursement rates.
