Adventist Health, Community Medical Centers form plan for Medi-Cal patients

Two health systems will form a joint-venture healthcare network to provide care services for more than 200,000 Central Valley Medi-Cal patients, according to the Fresno Business Journal.

Winter Park, Fla.-based Adventist Health and Fresno-based Community Medical Centers announced plans to equally finance, own and operate the new health plan for managed Medi-cal enrollees.

"The collaborative venture will deliver more comprehensive, efficient, lower-cost and high-quality healthcare to a population in need," said President and CEO of Community Medical Centers Tim Joslin.

The announcement comes on the heels of a Civil Rights lawsuit filed against Medi-Cal, alleging failures in the state's health plan for low-income residents prevented care access to many enrollees.

"The focus of this relationship and others throughout our region is improving the health of our communities," said President and CEO of Adventist Health/Central Valley Network Wayne Ferch.

Subject to approval by the California Department of Managed Health Care, the new network could start coordinating health services for residents in Fresno, Kings, Madera and Tulare counties by next fall, according to the article.
