Anthem adds SSM Health hospitals, Dean Clinic to network

As of Jan. 1, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin and St. Louis-based SSM Health will partner with four hospitals to Anthem’s Blue Preferred and Blue Access insurance networks, according to the Journal Sentinel.

These hospitals include Madison-based Dean Clinic and four of SSM Health’s hospitals: Madison-based St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital and Baraboo-based St. Clare Hospital.

The agreement between Anthem and SSM Health doesn’t include Anthem’s Medicare Advantage plans, Medicaid plans or plans that use Anthem’s Blue Priority network.

“The opportunity to serve more employer groups exclusively covered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield is a nice complement to our existing Dean Health Plan products and our integrated health system as a whole,” said Stew Watson, MD, president and CEO of Dean Clinic, in a statement.
