Westfield, Mass.-based Baystate Noble Hospital is planning a significant expansion of its emergency department as annual visits surpass 31,000.
The project is in the early design phase and will increase the department’s capacity, according to a Sept. 2 news release from Baystate Health. The expanded emergency department will include flexible care spaces and designated areas for behavioral health and patient isolation.
The project is also designed to improve patient privacy, staff visibility, teamwork and workflow efficiency. A definitive timeline and total project cost have not yet been established.
