BCBS of Texas unveils first of 10 primary care clinics

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and global primary care provider Sanitas Medical Center debuted their first of 10 advanced primary care centers set to open in the Dallas and Houston regions, the companies said Oct. 4.

The medical centers are intended to be a one-stop shop for BCBSTX members seeking primary care, urgent care, lab and diagnostic imaging services, care coordination, and wellness and disease management. BCBSTX cardholders can access the centers, as can self-pay patients and traditional Medicare beneficiaries.

Most of the centers will open in coming weeks, ahead of the initial Jan. 1, 2020, timeline. Each site will offer bilingual physicians and staff. Additionally, most centers will be open 365 days a year, and all will feature extended weekday hours, weekend hours and mobile access to physicians.

BCBSTX and Sanitas announced their advanced primary care model in April.
