Detroit-based Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will become a corporate sponsor to the National Veteran Business Development Council.
Lynn Garrison, supplier diversity administrator at BCBS of Michigan, said the veteran's business council familiarized the BCBS procurement buyers, managers and staff with its services.
"Mr. King [president of the council] was a speaker at our 'Doing Business With' series," Ms. Garrison said in a prepared statement. "The goal was to give the buyers and staff a better understanding and awareness of the importance of working with diverse businesses, as well as how this affects the community — and essentially circles back around to the company."
