Morgan County, Ill., is the second organization to drop Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois as its employee benefits provider after the payer declined to renew its network agreement with Springfield (Ill.) Clinic, according to WLDS-WEAI.
Effective Jan. 1, the Central Illinois county is switching to Health Alliance to preserve employees' access to their current physicians, according to WLDS-WEAI.
The move comes nearly a month after the payer and provider's contract negotiations fell through, affecting about 100,000 patients.
Earlier in December, Macomb, Ill.-based McDonough District Hospital announced a similar move directly due to the dispute between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Springfield Clinic.
