Indianapolis-based Anthem inked an agreement to acquire HealthSun, a Medicare Advantage health plan in Coconut Grove, Fla.
HealthSun serves about 40,000 Medicare Advantage members in Florida's Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Members access treatment across a network of 19 primary care and specialty centers.
Joseph Swedish, chairman, president and CEO of Anthem, said the acquisition "fits well with our plans for continued growth in the Medicare Advantage and dual-eligible (Medicare and Medicaid) populations."
The transaction is slated to reach completion by the end of this year and is subject to regulatory approvals.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
