Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna will pay approximately $85 million for its New York City headquarters, according to a Hartford Courant report.

Here are three things to know.

1. The new headquarters is slated to open in October 2018 and will make Aetna the seventh-largest publicly traded firm housed in New York City. The payer is expected to contribute $51 million in tax revenue for the city, the report states, citing Aetna's application for tax assistance.

2. Aetna's anticipated creation of 250 management and other jobs in New York City, as well as its projected capital spending, resulted in New York state offering the insurer $24 million in tax credits.

3. Approximately 6,000 Aetna employees will stay in Connecticut after the move, according to Hartford Courant.
