The CDC used data from the 2013 and 2014 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System to examine how health insurance rates compared across professions. All workers between the ages of 18 and 64 saw a significant decrease in uninsured rates from 2013 to 2014, due to the 2014 rollout of the ACA’s health insurance requirement.
Here are 10 jobs with the highest uninsured rates in 2014:
1. Building and grounds cleaning and maintenance (37 percent uninsured)
2. Food preparation and serving ( 35.5 percent)
3. Farming, fishing and forestry (34.6 percent)
4. Construction and extraction (29.1 percent)
5. Transportation and material moving (21.7 percent)
6. Personal care and service (16.7 percent)
7. Production (16.4 percent)
8. Installation, maintenance and repair (16.2 percent)
9. Sales (12.6 percent)
10. Healthcare support (11.3 percent)
