Akron Children’s to take over Ohio hospital’s NICU, maternal services

Akron (Ohio) Children’s Hospital will take over operations of Canton, Ohio-based Aultman Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit and maternal fetal medicine practice under a new agreement, according to Crain’s Cleveland Business.

The hospitals said Oct. 11 they signed a letter of intent extending their 10-year agreement, which is subject to final approval from Aultman’s board of directors. Their collaborations include Akron Children’s inpatient pediatric unit at Aultman, and Akron Children’s outpatient subspecialty services at various Aultman campuses.

The outpatient services will move to Akron Children’s new health center, which is located on Aultman’s North Campus, in March.

Aultman will continue operating its maternal fetal medicine practice and NICU until the deal closes, according to Crain’s.
