HCA closes freestanding ER in Texas

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare closed a freestanding emergency room in Cypress, Texas, after acquiring North Cypress Medical Center in September, according to Community Impact Newspaper.

The decision to shut down the freestanding ER was made "as a result of pre-purchase research findings that it was in an over-saturated market with limited patient reach," a spokesperson for HCA's Gulf Coast Division told Community Impact Newspaper.

Employees were transferred to other HCA facilities in the area when the freestanding ER shut down, according to the report.
