466-bed HCA hospital relocates 11 critically ill patients after power outage

Richmond, Va.-based Chippenham Hospital, a part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, relocated 11 of its most critical patients to nearby HCA hospitals after suffering a power outage July 10, WRIC reports.

The power outage occurred when a construction worker hit an underground power line, initially knocking out power to the 466-bed hospital's main source and generator. Chippenham Hospital's power was restored the same day.

Emergency crews transferred the critically ill patients to HCA sister facilities.

On Facebook later July 10, Chippenham Hospital said, "power has been restored. Thank you to all of the staff members and our community partners for all of your efforts today."
