UC Davis Medical Center (Sacramento). UC Davis Medical Center, a 627-bed acute-care teaching hospital, admits 30,000-plus patients annually. In 1997, Lawrence J. Ellison, then president and CEO of Oracle, made a donation to establish the Lawrence J. Ellison Musculoskeletal Research Center, which focuses on skeletal molecular biology. The hospital’s orthopedic department has formed academic and clinical care affiliations with Shriners Hospitals for Children-Northern California and Kaiser Permanente Sacramento to coordinate better care for patients. U.S. News & World Report ranked UC Davis among the top 50 hospitals in the nation for adult orthopedics for 2017-18.
