The orthopedic department performs 25,000-plus procedures annually, and from September 2015 to August 2016, Jefferson Health Orthopaedics surgeons recorded 12,833 joint replacements and 4,328 spine surgeries. In 2016, The Joint Commission named Thomas Jefferson University Hospital the first recipient of the organization’s total hip and knee replacement advanced certification. For 2017-18, U.S. News & World Report ranked Thomas Jefferson University Hospital No. 4 in the nation for adult orthopedics.
