Northwestern Memorial Hospital (Chicago). Northwestern Medicine’s 894-bed flagship hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, supports 19 externally funded research projects totaling $1.9 million in current funding. The hospital staffs 40 orthopedic physicians, comprising 28 orthopedic surgeons, seven hand surgeons and five nonoperative physicians. In 2015, Northwestern Memorial launched the Center for Comprehensive Orthopaedic and Spine Care, which is housed in a 1 million-square-foot outpatient pavilion and offers care for orthopedic conditions, sports injuries and back pain. U.S. News & World Report ranked Northwestern Memorial Hospital No. 9 in the nation for adult orthopedics in 2017-18.
