Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital staffs 45 orthopedic physicians who performed 1,041 primary total knee and 541 primary total hip replacements in the 2017 fiscal year. The hospital’s orthopedics department supports 10 active industry-sponsored clinical trials and 19 active research projects overall with the goal of advancing orthopedic medicine and improving outcomes. The hospital’s orthopedic program has grown in recent years, including the launch of an integrated spine program in 2016 and the opening of a Warrenville, Ill.-based athletic training and sports performance clinic. CareChex ranked the hospital No. 1 in Illinois for major orthopedic surgery and joint replacement in 2018.
