New England Baptist Hospital (Boston). New England Baptist Hospital, an affiliate of Boston-based Tufts University School of Medicine, has been the official hospital of the Boston Celtics for more than 30 years. The hospital staffs 66 orthopedic physicians focusing on joint replacement, sports medicine, physiatry, spine surgery, hand surgery and podiatry as well as foot and ankle surgery. NEBH’s fiscal year 2017 inpatient and outpatient orthopedic case volume hit 8,200 and 6,500, respectively, including 6,800 inpatient total joint replacements and 1,100 inpatient spine surgeries. In its most recent data, the hospital reported a 3 percent readmission rate for 2015, which is significantly lower than the state average of 15.3 percent. NEBH physicians and scientists are currently engaged in four active research studies and are focused on expanding the spine program with the addition of the Libert Family Spine Institute.
