U of South Carolina teams up with hospital to open nurse training facility

The University of South Carolina in Columbia has opened a new training facility for nursing students in partnership with Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, S.C.

Lexington Medical Center funded the project, which is housed on its campus, and is providing clinical instructors, according to an Aug. 12 news release from the university.

The facility will be used primarily for third- and fourth-year bachelor’s degree students in addition to those in the master’s program.

The training facility is expected to graduate 400 nurses per year within five years, the release said.
