As part of the expansion project, SCL Health has entered into a joint venture agreement with The Woodlands, Texas-based Emerus, a provider of emergent, inpatient, surgical and diagnostic care, to build and manage these smaller inpatient facilities. Each of the smaller hospital will offer inpatient, surgical and emergency care. They will also feature on-site diagnostics.

Construction is expected to begin on the first community hospital in Westminster, Colo., in 2014.
