The state of Tennessee and federal attorneys declined to move forward in the case, which stemmed from a suit filed by Lisa K. Stratienko in 2010. Ms. Stratienko claimed the hospital submitted a series of fraudulent Medicare claims linked to “improper agreements” with third-party physician groups, according to the report.
Ms. Stratienko is married to a cardiologist who has filed at least three unsuccessful lawsuits against Erlanger since 2007, according to the report. The nature of the lawsuits was not specified in the news report.
“We are pleased to learn that the United States and the State of Tennessee have declined to intervene in the matter at this time,” interim Erlanger President and CEO Charlesetta Woodard-Thompson said in the report. “Erlanger is confident in our contracting procedures and compliance programs.”
