The company allegedly offered beneficiaries of Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program $25 gift cards when they transferred their prescriptions from another pharmacy to Walgreens.
Although advertisements specified the promotional offer was not applicable for government programs, the government claims Walgreens employees frequently ignored that exemption and therefore violated the False Claims Act.
