Urgent Care Center Files Suit Against United Memorial Medical Center, Health Now

An urgent care center has filed a suit against United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, N.Y., and insurer Health Now, alleging a conspiracy to keep the urgent care center from being competitive in the region, according to a Daily News report.

Insource Healthcare Solutions, the recently opened clinic in Batavia, claims that an exclusive contract between UMMC and Health Now, the region's largest insurer, reduces other providers' ability to compete and is a violation of the Sherman Anti-Trust Act, according to the report.

"I believe that the reason that Health Now has denied me the opportunity to compete aggressively in the Genesee County marketplace is because they conspired with UMMC to keep me out," said Mark Celmer, president of Insource, as quoted in the report.
