Tennessee Pediatric Group Settles FCA Allegations With $540k

A pediatric practice based in Memphis, Tenn., has agreed to a settlement of $540,000 to resolve allegations the group overbilled TennCare, the state's Medicaid managed care program, according to a report in The Chattanoogan.

The state alleges the practice, Segal, Parker, Kronenberg, Tsiu & Eiseman, along with three affiliated physicians, violated the False Claims Act by using incorrect billing codes that resulted in the practice receiving overpayments, according to the report.

The group's billing patterns were flagged by TennCare's Office of Program Integrity during routine data analysis. An investigation by the office of Tennessee's Attorney General resulted in allegations of overbilling, according to the report.
