In 1995, four nurse anesthetists sued GWU Hospital, alleging the hospital had submitted claims to Medicare for anesthesia procedures performed by a licensed anesthesiologist when the procedures had been performed in part by residents or nurses, according to a Washington Bureau report.
A federal judge ruled in GWU Hospital’s favor Monday, deciding the whistle-blowers had not sufficiently linked specific payments to the alleged false Medicare claims, according to Law360.
