Study Finds 73% of Health Systems Plan to Self Insure for Malpractice

A new study has found that 73 percent of health systems plan to self insure for their combined hospital-physician malpractice risk.

The study, Aon’s 12th Annual Hospital and Physician Professional Liability Benchmark Analysis, was developed in conjunction with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. The study provides benchmarking data on a variety of risk-related issues, including malpractice claim frequency and severity by state, service and type of claim, among other data.
