Methodist filed for a certificate of need with the state after the state department of health changed its guidelines to allow for new acute-care hospitals to be considered in counties with populations over 140,000 and with projected population growth of at least 10 percent in 10 years.
Previously, Methodist was denied approval to build a facility in Olive Branch, according to the report.
Any objectors have 20 days to request a hearing regarding the tentative CON.
Baptist Memorial Hospital in Desoto, Miss., and Alliance Healthcare System in Holly Springs, Miss., opposed the CON, but it is unclear whether or not they will request a hearing to object the recommendation, according to the report.
If no hearings are requested, the State Health Officer is likely to approve the CON.
