SSM Health Care to Pay $475k to Settle False Claims Allegations

SSM Health Care of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City has agreed to a settlement of $475,000 to resolve allegations the company billed Medicare for inpatient services that should have been billed as outpatient services.

SSM Health Care of Oklahoma, a subsidiary of SSM Health Care in St. Louis and the owner and operator of St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, faced allegations of unnecessarily admitting emergency department patients and patients with planned medical procedures to bill Medicare at inpatient rates.

SSM has not admitted liability as part of the settlement.
