The whistle-blower in a Medicare fraud suit against Hospice of the Comforter in Alamonte Springs, Fla., currently managed by Adventist Health, also in Alamonte Springs, has filed a legal brief claiming Adventist submitted inaccurate financial figures to receive a lower settlement, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.
Douglas Stone, the hospice's former vice president of finance, says the reported $3 million settlement is too low, according to the report. The settlement was determined by allegedly inaccurate financial information provided by Adventist.
Mr. Stone claims Adventist has plans to purchase the hospice, giving the organization a strong motive to keep the settlement figure low, according to the report.
