Patient strikes staff at Florida hospital with a cane

An 18-year-old patient was arrested Tuesday for allegedly striking employees at Ocala, Fla.-based West Marion Community Hospital with a cane, according to the Ocala Star Banner.

The patient, Gamaliel Coss-Carmona, was at WMCH for a medical evaluation when he grabbed a cane and began hitting staff. Hospital officials immediately called the police. Mr. Coss-Carmona took off running from the officers and while doing so, removed his hospital gown. 

Mr. Coss-Carmona was arrested Tuesday afternoon after fleeing to a vacant home several blocks away from the hospital. He was held at the Marion County Jail, with a bail of $15,000, for charges of felony battery on a nurse and aggravated battery.
