Patient in custody shot at Texas hospital

A patient who was a federal prisoner in U.S. Marshall custody was shot at Odessa, Texas-based Medical Center Hospital Oct. 8. The patient later died, according to a Big 2 News report.

The shooting took place Oct. 8 at 4:13 p.m. in a patient tower, where the prisoner was being treated for a medical condition. The patient died around 5:58 p.m. the same day, according to the dessa American.

No hospital personnel were involved or injured in the incident. Hospital operations are running normally.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
