Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) will present the Promoting Integrity in Medicare Act of 2013, which would eliminate diagnostic MRI, CT, PET and other advanced diagnostic imaging services, as well as anatomic pathology, radiation oncology and physical therapy from the Stark Law’s current in-office ancillary services exception.
These services were selected because they are often not performed on the same day as the initial office visit, according to a news release from Rep. Speier’s office.
