Medical records from shuttered Chicago clinic found in alley dumpster

Hundreds of medical records from former patients of Chicago-based Community Mental Health Council, a group of clinics, were found in an alley dumpster, according to CBS Chicago.

Resident Emetric Whittington stumbled upon the medical records in an alley off Hermitage Avenue in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood. The alley is miles away from the main building of the medical group.

Community Mental Health Council closed in 2012 due to losing its state funding after serving the South Side of Chicago for 37 years. It is unclear how the medical records ended up in the alley.

Local police are working with city officials to determine who disposed of the medical records, which were filled with patients' personal information, diagnoses, Social Security numbers and other information.
