HHS announced yesterday that it awarded $32 million in grants to organizations across 22 states for efforts to identify and enroll children eligible for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
Individual Connecting Kids to Coverage Outreach Enrollment Grants ranged from $190,000 to $1 million dollars. These awards are part of the $140 million included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 for enrollment and renewal outreach.
Focus areas for grant funding include engaging schools in health education outreach, reducing disparities in healthcare coverage for children, connecting healthcare enrollment with other assistance programs, improving application assistance for enrollees and community training to improve awareness and knowledge of healthcare programs.
