Pamela Hoernschemeyer worked as a supervisor with St. Louis-based Healthcare Strategic Initiatives, which operated as Nextgen Healthcare. The company contracted with SSM for patient billing and collections, claims submissions, payment posting and account management.

Ms. Hoernschemeyer submitted fraudulent check request forms to SSM, requesting refunds for patients using variations of her name, along with her husband’s and daughter’s names. She deposited those refunds into numerous personal accounts, ultimately embezzling more than $100,000 from the system and spending it on personal expenses.

Ms. Hoernschemeyer pleaded guilty to three felony counts of bank fraud in September and was sentenced yesterday.
