According to the report, government officials are looking at the impact the merger could have on competitors. Partners HealthCare CEO Gary Gottlieb, MD, confirmed the inquiry but characterized it as routine for the pre-merger review process.
Dr. Gottlieb also told the Boston Globe the merger adds to Partners’ longstanding clinical relationship with South Shore, according to the report.
