Anesthesiologist Named University of Vermont Medical Group Interim President

Anesthesiologist Howard Schapiro, MD, was named interim president of the University of Vermont Medical Group.

Dr. Schapiro will also serve as interim senior associate dean of clinical affairs at the UVM College of Medicine in Burlington. Currently, he practices at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington and is filling in as an associate professor at UVM College of Medicine.

Dr. Schapiro received his medical degree from the University of Vermont. He completed his internship, surgical residency and anesthesiology residency at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont. He served an obstetric anesthesia fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City.
