Four things to know:

1. One lawsuit, brought by a father and his 10-year-old son, claimed the child saw other campers engage in sexual acts unsupervised while attending the camp, which is for children who have chronic medical conditions.

2. The 10-year-old, who is battling brain cancer, said that while attending the camp in July 2017, he bunked with other children, one of whom had HIV and AIDS and another who had oral herpes. The boy claimed that on the last night of camp, his bunkmates engaged in sexual acts and an older bunkmate sexually assaulted other children in the room, according to the report.

3. A second parent has also filed a lawsuit against Duke Health claiming her 7-year-old son was sexually assaulted at the camp and exposed to HIV.

4. Duke Health reportedly closed the camp to address the matter, and a system executive told Spectrum News the health system would refrain from commenting on the issue to protect the children and their families.
