Police investigate nurse practitioner's death near Wisconsin hospital

Police found a woman frozen and trapped under a car in the parking structure of Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, Wis., on Jan. 25, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Police found Carlie Beaudin, 33, trapped under a car and frozen in the hospital's parking structure just before 4 a.m. Jan. 25. She was transported to the hospital's trauma center but was pronounced dead a short time later, the report states.

Police have ruled the incident a homicide and said they have a 27-year-old man in custody in connection with the case, according to a second report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The individual was arrested Jan. 25. No charges have yet been filed.

Hospital officials said Jan. 27 that Ms. Beaudin worked as a nurse practitioner in the department of medicine's division of hematology and oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital, according to WISN 2, an ABC News affiliate.

"She was a respected and loyal employee of the Medical College of Wisconsin since 2014 and Froedtert Hospital from 2007-2014. Her presence was felt by all who knew her, providing both warmth and strength to patients as well as mentorship to new advanced practice providers (APPs) and nurses," Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin said in a statement obtained by the Journal Sentinel.

The statement continues: "We continue to work closely with law enforcement and remain vigilant about the emotional and physical safety of every person who works or studies at, is cared for by, or visits our campuses, clinics and hospitals. We have enhanced security measures to ensure a safe environment."
