3 Penn State Hershey staffers assaulted by patient, police say

Police arrested a male patient at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center Aug. 20 after the individual physically assaulted at least three female staff members, according to ABC-27 News.

Police arrested Christian Bonnette, 33, around 1:11 a.m. on the fourth floor of the hospital.

Staff told police Mr. Bonnette physically assaulted at least three staffers and attempted to rape one of them.

Police charged him with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of rape. He was arraigned and is being held on $100,000 bail as of Aug. 21, according to the report.

A Penn State Hershey official told ABC-27 News staff members involved in the incident were evaluated for their injuries and discharged, and said individualized counseling and chaplain services will be made available to them.

The official added that the hospital is dedicated to supporting the staff involved and their families in any way they may need, and that officials commend the multiple staff members who quickly intervened in the situation to help their colleagues.
