Some of the affected employees may be reassigned to other positions in the system.

The services will be transferred to Pinehurst, N.C.-based FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, according to the report. Richmond Memorial has been a division of Moore Regional since 2009.

Richmond Memorial has seen a declining birth rate, which contributed to the decision to stop offering labor and delivery services, The Richmond County Daily Journal reported.
