The 191-bed hospital plans to close four outpatient units as well, including its wound care clinic, the WorkHealth Occupation Health Services, the cardiac rehabilitation clinic and its forensics clinic, according to the report. In addition to the unit closures, five other units will soon be managed by outside vendors, and employees there will also be affected by the layoffs.
Queen of the Valley is making the layoffs and other changes to have a more sustainable future under healthcare reform. The hospital is facing reduced reimbursements from Medicare that will equal about $75 million through 2023, according to the report.
