The following hospitals or health systems have eliminated executive or high-level leadership positions this year, starting with the earliest.
1. Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital eliminated seven of its roughly 30 leadership positions at the manager and director level as part of its plan to become more lean and efficient.
2. Jim Terwilliger stepped down from his position as president of Indiana University Health‘s Methodist and University hospitals in Indianapolis March 1. A reorganization plan led to his departure.
3. Flagstaff-based Northern Arizona Healthcare eliminated nine administrative positions, including its chief nursing information officer and several vice president and director roles.
4. Toledo, Ohio-based Mercy Health System eliminated the job of CEO Andrea Price as part of a leadership restructuring. Her last day was March 27.
5. Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health System eliminated the president position from Barberton Hospital and Wadsworth-Ritterman Hospital. Tom DeBord had been serving in the joint position for about four years.
