Summa Health System Eliminates Hospital President Position

Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health System has eliminated the president position from Barberton Hospital and Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, according to an Akron Beacon Journal report.

Tom DeBord had been serving in this joint role since 2010, according to the report.

Thomas Strauss, president and CEO of the health system, said they decided to eliminate the position following "a thorough review of the needs of the company as we move into a new era of healthcare," according to the report.

Mr. Strauss continued to say the health system is looking to fill a system role that includes site administration for both hospitals, according to the report.

Kathy Jobe, CNO of the two hospitals, will temporarily serve as site administrator.
