Quest joins monkeypox efforts with its own test

Quest Diagnostics is now offering monkeypox testing nationwide with its novel molecular diagnostic test.

The test uses swabs from patients with rash symptoms and is processed at Quest’s lab in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., the company said July 13. By the end of July, Quest expects to be able to perform 30,000 per week.

The lab said it plans to launch the CDC’s orthopoxvirus test in August.
