Washington, D.C.-based Children’s National launched a fully operational automated laboratory testing line, becoming the first children’s hospital in the U.S. to use the technology.
The technology connects clinical chemistry and immunoassay testing into one streamlined process, according to an Aug. 28 news release. Once a sample is loaded, an automated track and robotics move it through processing and analysis, reducing manual handling and speeding the release of results.
Routine results can be available within hours, helping care teams make more timely diagnosis and treatment decisions. The automated laboratory testing line is designed to improve efficiency, expand testing capacity and deliver results more quickly to patients and families.
