3 leaders recognized on 'Lab Excellence List'

Pharmaceutical and lab product maker Cardinal Health honored three lab leaders on its annual "Lab Excellence List," the company said April 27.

Nominees for the three award categories of advocacy, patient safety and efficiency were submitted by peers, managers, students or colleagues, or were self-nominated. An external panel made of health sciences faculty at various universities rated the nominees.

Rodney Rohde, PhD, was named the winner in the advocacy category. Dr. Rohde is a regents' professor and chair of the clinical lab science program in the College of Health Professions at San Marcos-based Texas State University.

Stacey Paryag-Stevens was named the winner in the patient safety category. She is the lab education coordinator and program director for the School of Medical Technology at Lawton, Okla.-based Comanche County Memorial Hospital.

Michele Peddicord was named the winner in the efficiency category. She is the manager of the Martha Morehouse Outpatient Care and Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center clinical labs and Mohs Dermatology Lab at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
